Sometimes a player makes the mistake of carrying the puck in front of him so the goalie knows what he′s going to do because he can′t shoot the puck from that position. As you get close to the net bring the puck to your side so you can either take the quick shot or make a move.
The key to a backhand shot is the element of surprise. Since the shot is seldom practiced or used in a game many goalies aren′t used to the shot. They′re not used to how the puck is going to come off the stick whether it′s going to go low or high left or right. And when you don′t have to waste time moving the puck to your forehand you don′t allow the goaltender time to set up.
Chest Protector. The size of a goaltender's chest protector should be determined by the goaltender's height. After gathering a goaltender's height the next step is to match the height with the selected company's size chart to determine the appropriate size.
Leg Pads. The following is a four-step guide to determine the size of a goaltender′s pads : Step 1 – Goaltender's skate size Step 2 – Measure from the floor to the middle of the kneecap Step 3 – Measure from the middle of the kneecap to desired height on thigh Step 4 – Add steps 1 2 and 3 for estimated size of leg pad.
